Medical Center Hospital
SourceOne delivers Disaster Recovery plan plus peace of mind to Medical Center Hospital.
Customer Situation
Medical Center Hospital (MCH) in Odessa, Texas, provides comprehensive medical care to the residents of Ector County and 17 surrounding counties.
MCH came to SourceOne for help in enhancing its disaster recovery plan for its mission-critical systems. As the hospital becomes increasingly paperless, and now must meet stricter federal regulations, it felt it was time to conduct a health check to test the recoverability of its IT infrastructure in the event of an actual disaster. Business continuity—in the areas of both patient care and cash flow—was paramount to MCH’s disaster recovery plan.
SourceOne Solution
Due to the lack of extra hardware for testing purposes, most small and medium businesses are unable to test their recoverability in the event of a disaster. This was the case with MCH, and this was where SourceOne came in. Tasked with assessing MCH’s risk factor and improving the recoverability of its IT infrastructure, SourceOne began by conducting a one-week Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) health check. Subsequent to this check-up, SourceOne was able to refine MCH’s back-up processes and document a step-by-step recovery plan. MCH representatives then traveled to SourceOne’s Technology Briefing Center, where, working alongside SourceOne’s team of experts, they were able to test and verify the validity of the plan. From the knowledge that was gained, SourceOne set about rebuilding MCH’s IT infrastructure. Now MCH has the assurance that its data is restorable in the event of an actual emergency.
